MOTOR CYCLE SPARE PARTS GUARANTEE We give the following guarantee with B.S.A. Mot or Cycle Spare Parts, instead of the guarantee implied by statute or otherwise, as to the quality or fitness of such parts for the purpose for which they are intended, any such implied guarantee being in all cases excluded, nor can any claim forcon sequential damages be entertained. WE GUARANTEE, subject to the conditions mentioned below, that all precautions which are usual and reasonable have been take n by us to secure excellence of materials and workmanship, but this guarantee is to extend and be in force for three month sonly from the date of purchase ,and lhe damages for which we make ourselves respon sible under this guarantee are limited to the rep lacement of any par t which may have proved defective. WE UNDERTAKE, subject to the cond itions mentioned below, to make good at any time withi n three mont hs any defects in these respect s. As motor cycles are easily liable to derangement by neglect or misuse, this guarantee docs not apply to defects cau sed by wear and tear , misuse, or neglect. The term "misuse" shall include among others the following acts: The attachin gof a sidecar to the motor cycle in such a manner as to cause damage or calculated to render the latter unsafe when ridd en; the use of a motor cycle or a motor cycle and sidecar combined when cair ying more persons or a greate r weight than they were designed to bear. (The 350 e.e. and the 500 e.e, in the "B" group oí mach ines are not designed for sideca r work) . CONDI TIONS OF GUARANTEE If a defective part shou ld be found in our motor cycles it must be sent to our Service Department, carriage paid , and be accompani ed by an intimation from the sender that he desires it repa ired free of cha rge under our gua rantee, and he must also furnish us at the sam e time with the number of the frame and engine, which will be found stamped on the seat or head tube lug and crankcase respecti vely, the name of lhe Dealer from whom he purchased, and the date of tbc purchase. Failing compliance with the above no notice will be taken of anything which may arrive but such articles will lie here at the risk of th esender, and this guarantee or any implie dguarante eshall not be enforceable. We do not guarantee the specialities of other firms, such as tyres, electrical equipment, saddl es, etc., or of any component part supplied to the order of the purcha ser differi ng from our standard specification , whether supplied with our moto r cycles or othe rwise. REPAIRS AND RENOVATI ONSGUARANTEE THE TERM " AGENT" Any B.S.A. motor cycle sent to us to be replated, re-enamelled, or repa ired will be treat edupon the same cond itions as if it were a new motor cycle, i.e., we guarantee that all preca utions which are usual and reasonable have been taken by us to 'secure excellence of mate rial and workmanship , suchguaranteeto extend and be in force for three mon ths only from the time such work shall have been execute d, and this guarantee is in lieu and in exclusion of any Common Law or statute warrant y, and the damages re– coverable are limited to the cost of any further work which may be necessary to amen dand make goodthe work found to be def ective. We do not appoint agents for the sale of our Mo101 Cycles or other goods. We assign to Moto, Cycle D ealers (styled "Regi onal"Deal ers), who carryon busi ness on their own account, areas in which they have the exclusive or other right to sell goods pur chased from us. A Region al Dea ler pur– chasing from us, or a Sub-Dealer purchasingfrom him, may, on our behalf (as our agent for the purpose only) give the guarantee printed above. Any such dealer is not authori sedto adver tise, incur any debts, or trans act any business whatsoever on our accou nt, nor is he authorised, so as to bind us to give any warranty or make any representa tion on our behalf or to sell subject to or with any con ditionsother than those contained in such guar antee. B.S.A. SERVICE When you purchase a B.S.A. machine you become the owner of a product which is bac ked by the most comprehe sive motor cycle service in the world. The following notes arc intended to give a guide to the facilities available to the B.S.A. own er. Detailed information on any aspect of B.S.A. service may be obtained 'by discussion with your B.S.A. dealer or on appli catio nto the factory Service Depa rtment. REPAIR S REPLA CEMENTPART S (1). All mot or cycles, engine s, sidecar s or componentsfor repair should be consigned to the factory Service Department at the following address:– B.S.A. Mofor Cycles Limited. Sen iceDepart ment, · Waverley Works, Birmingham 10. Full inst ructions must accompany all items sent to us for repair. If wc are simply asked to overhaul a machine , all component paris will be com· pletely dismantled and inspected, all worn parts will be renewed and the machine re-assembled and tested to origina linspectio nstandards. (2). When sending com plete motor cycles, accessories such as wind– screens, pann iers,Club badges , tools and infìator s, should be removed as they are liab le to be damaged or Jost in tran sit. (3). l t frequently happens that parts are forwarded to us which do noi bear the sendersname and address, Care in this respect will prevent delay and annoyance . (4), All goods con signedto us must be seni carriage paid, (5). Immediately we receive a part for rep air, an acknowl edgment and confirmation of your instructions is pos ted to 'you, If you have occasi on to enquire by letter or teleph one about the progress of the repairs, please follow lhe instructions printed on your form of ackn owledgment. T hemoderate price at which B.S.A. replacement parts are available, has been maintained by making full use of trade distribution channe ls, with. the conseque nt advantages of large consignments delivered from the works with lower handling, packi ng and transport costs. For this reason, we do not normally .supply spares direct to individual owners, and all requests for replacement parts should be made to you, local dealer or spare parts stockist s. All B.S.A. dealers carry stocks of B.S.A. replacement part s,but the officially appo inted spare part s stock ists, whose names and addresses are quo ted in the f ollowing pages, mai ntain an extensive and compreh ensive ran ge. B.S.A. owners are stongly advi sed to fit genuine B.S.A. replacem ent parts only. Risks are incurred in not always insisting on the genuine component, and these risks are elimin ated if parts are purchased only from our recognised dealers . B.S.A. EXCHANG E REPLACEMENTSERVICE SERVICE LI TERATUR E TheB.S.A . Exchan ge Replacemen tService is of great value 10 all B.S.A. owners. lt is particu larly useful to thos e who rely on their machines for daily transport, and who cann otafford to have them off the road for more than a few hours at a time. Un derthis schemethe owner can exchange any worn or otherwise unserviceable un.it, such as engine, gearbox, forks or wheels, for a fully-guaran teed factory -assembled replaceme nt unit. The se units ar e ready for immediate use, and are supplied at the fixed prices quoted at the back of this catalogue on the understa ndingthat the old units which they replace are not damag ed to a degree where they are not capable of being reconditioned. All genuine B.S.A. Exchange Rep lacement units carry the full three months warr anty . Most B.S.A. Dealers and officially app ointed spare parts Stockis ts arc able to supply genuine exchange units from stock. If this canno tbe done, they can obta in the unit for you quickly from the works, and make arrangements for it to be fitted to your machine, afterwards retur ning the old unit to us. In this way thé machine need only be off the road long enough for the conver sion to be made. Full details of this scheme can be obta ined from your B.S.A. Dealer and an explanatory leaflet and pricelist will be sent upon request to B.S.A. Service Departm ent. An Instruction Book is supplied free of char ge with each machine und contains all the informatio n required f or routine maintena nce, and top overhaul. For the norm al owner this book will cover all lhe work that he is likely to und ertak e. Further cop ies of Instruction Books to cover all post– war and most pre -war models are available from the Service Dep artment. For the guidance of Dea lers and other skille d mechanics , the Service Department also issues Service Manuals to cover each model. These man uals contai ndetai led instructi ons for comp letedismantling and overhaul, and describe the special tools and jigs which are necessary for this purpose. The B.S.A. owner who has considerable mechanical experience, and feels that he is competent to carr y out this more skille d type oí work may obtain a copy of the Service Manua l for his machine from the Service Department. Additional Instruction Books are priced 3/- plus 3d. postage, and Service Manu als are 7/- plus 6d. posta ge, for each model, Full details of the machine should always be quoted. HOURS OF BUSINESS CORRE SPOND ENCE Our Service Department is open from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.rn. Monday to Friday, excepting holiday periods. and we are pleased to see ß.S A. owners, and if necessary, to inspect and advise oit the condi tion or their machines. We canno t guarantee, however , to be able to service any machine if a call is made without an app ointrne nt , and even when callin gby appointment, an owner should be prepared to leave his machine with us, in case the work cannot be comple ted on the same day. · A commiss iona ire is always on duty to receive machines broug ht to the Service Depa rtment by appointment, at any time of the day or night, on any day of the week, and simil ar arr angements are made for collection. Any machi ne delivered to us after hours should, however, be acco mpanied by full instructions in writing, together with the owner'sname and address. . . We maintain a skilled staff to help you with any query, techn ical or otherwise which you may have concerning your B.S.A . machine.
